Port Forwarding literally cannot cause a computer program to somehow do what it's trying to do at connecting work better, it just makes your computer able to actually access the ports you need to for the download via your router. Port Forwarding is a tool that fixes and overcomes issues with a user's LOCAL AREA NETWORK, not a specific program. I'm sorry but many of those games actually have the same issues for different people. Many other games update without having router issues, such as World of Warcraft and literally anything on Steam. This is a consequence of how they architected their update client. There is no such thing as a download that requires port forwarding.
